Engineered is designers' floor of choice
Manhattan designers are using more and more engineered wood flooring products in the homes they decorate, rather than traditional solid wood.
Engineered floors have advanced by a huge amount in recent years which has caused sales of the wooden floors to soar as consumers realise the benefits of engineered options.
However, high profile designers in the chic US city have taken slightly more convincing that engineered floors offer great quality and are often more practical than solid wood.
Engineered flooring is resistant to expansion and contraction as a result of atmospheric fluctuations, so swelling and buckling are less of a worry with these floors.
This shift in attitudes may be a reflection of the ongoing economic issues across the world causing designers and their clients to be slightly more frugal where possible.
While solid wood flooring is still the best option for an investment floor many people choose to redecorate rather than moving house at the moment so people aren’t as interested in the investment option.
Of course, anyone employing an interior designer will want the very best and one homeowner was reported to have had an engineered floor complete with gold flecks installed.
