Firm expands into wood flooring sector

US flooring tools and accessories firm QEP Co has agreed a deal to take over wood flooring maker ArborCraft.

The move will enable QEP to diversify its product range into actual floors as well as accessories.

ArborCraft makes hardwood floors, including engineered flooring and solid wood flooring, with 190 employees abased at three locations.

Commenting on the move, QEP board chairman Lewis Gould said: "We expect the acquisition of ArborCraft to add considerable strategic value to the company," adding that it would help expand its operations in Europe, South America and Australia.

The takeover is expected to be concluded next month, with the announcement making no mention of the amount of money involved in the transaction.

Another hardwood flooring firm making progress recently was North Carolina-based Horizon Forest Products Long Floor.

Earlier this month, the firm revealed it had gained Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Certification status for its sustainable products.
