First-time buyer support is boosting recovery, expert says

Alison Beech, business relationship director at estate agency haart, explained that such purchasers are needed if a recovery is to take place.
She said that demand has built up and needs to be matched by an
increase in the number of properties available, which could lead to a boost for the UK building industry.
Describing the current situation as "positive", Ms Beech remarked: "We need to see more first-time buyers get on the ladder and we welcome lenders' endeavours to be more flexible in supporting this critical section of the market."
Her comments follow Department of Communities and Local Government statistics showing a 2.6 per cent rise in the average house price.
The figures, which relate to the second quarter of 2009, represented a significant improvement on the 3.8 per cent decline seen in the previous three-month period.
