Flooring demand may rise as construction projects are unveiled

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) has unveiled a further £153 million worth of funding for new projects via its Kickstart scheme.

Under the programme - aimed at reviving stalled schemes in order to provide jobs and more new homes - 45 projects will be helped to get going again, creating another 3,688 homes.

The move concludes the allocation of cash under phase one of the scheme, which has seen £359.9 million directed at a total of 136 sites and 10,281 homes.

HCA chief executive Sir Bob Kerslake said: "Kickstart has been very successful in helping to boost the industry at a time of great need and, of course, increase the supply of new and affordable homes for people across the country."

Such a situation will mean that thousands of new floors will be required when the homes are completed.

Among sites recently receiving Kickstart funding through the HCA was the Atlip Road development in Wembley, north-west London, which received a £3.2 million grant.
