Flooring help at hand for flood victims

Flood victims in Pennsylvania are receiving a helping hand to repair damages to their properties after the tropical storm hit the state several months ago.

Wools of New Zealand and partner company Bloomsburg Carpet have made a joint pledge to assist victims needing to refurbish their homes in the aftermath of the tragedy.

The companies have given a donation of approximately 21,000 square yards of different varieties of carpet to the worthy cause and it is thought that the contribution could be worth over £190,000.

More than 300 homes are expected to receive some of the carpet to replace any flood-damaged flooring from the storm which left almost 100,000 people temporarily homeless.

The crisis made a personal impact on those at Bloomsburg Carpets as one of their manufacturing facilities is based in Pennsylvania and it was fortunate not to be adversely affected by the flooding.

This is not the first time that a flooring company has made a charitable donation to victims of natural disasters; flooring firms have offered help to victims of flooding as part of the rebuilding efforts many times over recent years.

Few types of flooring will survive water damage on the scale of even a household flood so floors are usually a casualty in even the most minor flooding and donations from firms save expensive payouts for victims before they get any insurance payment through.
