Flooring suppliers warned about imported wood

The ongoing scandal in the US flooring industry surrounding the Chinese engineered wood flooring controversy has lead to one publication producing a list of tips to keep in mind with imported wood floors.

Many US clients see the appeal in purchasing Chinese wood flooring and importing it but several American flooring companies are discovering the risks the hard way now.

The main advice which is offered to any flooring company considering a Chinese wood flooring supplier is to seriously do the homework, which should apply to any supplier from any country.

Researching a company is easy to do with a comprehensive search through the internet as well as looking at their current or past customers.

If these customers wouldn’t recommend the company then you know there could be a problem that could cause serious issues for flooring suppliers.

New laws brought in under the Lacey Act also need to be understood with some of the overseas companies not fully understanding the change in regulations.

Floor Covering News also warn that, while a sample might look like a great wood floor, you need to be sure that the company will continue to produce high quality flooring – not just samples.
