Green aspect of cork flooring hailed
Cork flooring makes for an outstanding sustainable flooring resource, a wholesale firm trading in the substance has said.

In a blog for environmental site greenopilis.com, Wisconsin-based Eco Friendly Flooring noted that cork is a green material because it is sourced as bark stripped from the cork oak tree every three years.

The firm commented its other items are also environmental, with this including recycled tiles and wood that comes from sustainable forests.

In addition to this, some of the wood is also garnered from the beams used in warehouses and factories built in the 1900s.

Those keen on having green flooring in their home may find that cork has a number of qualities, apart from being a sustainable and renewable resource.

Last month, Whitby Chamber of Commerce noted that the material also lasts a long time, so it does not need to be replaced often, newsdurhamregion.com reported.

The chamber made this point while presenting its 2009 Environmental Achievement Award to local businessman Shawn Williamson, who had installed the substance in his home.
