Hardwood flooring 'a great high-rise choice'

First-time buyers moving into flats and planning to undertake some renovations will find hardwood flooring to be a very good choice of floor, an expert has said.

Interior designer Karen Norton told Canada.com that the surface is usually only added in the main rooms, while bedrooms are carpeted.

However, she suggested, by having hardwood flooring throughout the premises, a greater sense of space can be created.

She stated: "It makes the suite that much more open".

Meanwhile, Liberty Developments' in-house interior designer Brent Zavitski explained to the news provider that it is a good idea to install high-quality flooring early on, so that the neighbours are not disturbed by further work on this aspect of the home in the future.

Hardwood flooring has also been used for a fashionable hotel in New York, Hospitality Design Magazine reported recently.

The floors were installed in sky rooms on the top of the Renaissance New York Hotel 57 as part of a major refurbishment project.
