Hardwood flooring contributes to home renovation

Hardwood flooring has helped one couple to personalise their home, it has been noted.

IndyStar.com reports that Richard and Linda Kammen sought to personalise the interior design of their two-bedroom house, which was built in 1997.

Various mementos collected on travels around the world as well as family heirlooms were used to decorate, while the basement was converted into an entertainment area featuring plastic flooring.

As the second owners of the property, the pair aimed to change the contemporary interior and "made it their own" through the installation of hickory hardwood flooring, which the news source noted is complemented by walls in neutral colours.

The National Home Improvement Council recently suggested that those who wish to make changes to a property can do so without having to spend large amounts of money.

Director at the organisation Andrew Leech explained that new flooring is among the steps that can be taken on a budget.
