Hardwood flooring firm gains eco-friendly certification
A hardwood flooring manufacturer in the US has gained Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Certification status for its products.

North Carolina-based Horizon Forest Products Long Floor has revealed that it has gained the status in recognition of its green practices as it sources its wood to make flooring products.

Cabinet branch manager Angela Simmonds said that even before the firm set out to gain FSC certification it was selling mainly green products.

Because of this, "moving towards a more 'green' way of doing business was a natural business transition for us," she added.

Ms Simmonds went on to comment that the biggest saw mill that supplies the firm with wood recycles its waste material for fuel to power its kilns and pre-dryers.

Wooden floor buyers are increasingly looking for eco-friendly products, a 2009 study by National Geographic magazine and polling firm Globescan found, a point noted recently noted by US wood flooring firm Express Flooring.
