Hardwood flooring firm in funding boost

A US hardwood flooring firm has received a helping hand in the form of a $50,000 (£33,000) loan to help expand its business.

The Rome Sentinel reported that Delta Hardwood Flooring obtained the funds through the Rural Development & Agri-Business Assistance Program from Mowhawk Valley Edge.

Combined with loans from the Rome Savings Bank and Mohawk Valley Economic Development District, the money will help to finance a $1.15 million project - including the renovation of a new building, the purchasing of equipment and to provide working capital.

The new flooring business is set to be the exclusive manufacturer for Oswego-based Green River Flooring/American Heritage Flooring.

Another American hardwood flooring firm, Lumber Liquidators, recently welcomed an improvement in income as it unveiled its latest quarterly results.

The company has enjoyed a 17.6 per cent increase in net sales year-on-year, with sales for the last three months of 2009 totalling 17.6 per cent.
