Hardwood flooring firm reveals improved results

US-based hardwood flooring company Lumber Liquidators has unveiled its latest quarterly results, showing an improvement in income.

In the last three months of 2009, the firm saw a 17.6 per cent year-on-year jump in net sales value to $137.1 million (£88.7 million) from $116.5 million a year before.

Gross margin was also up on 12 months before, from 34.2 per cent to 35.3 per cent.

The firm noted that it opened nine new outlets in the period, taking its total to 36 for the year.

President of the company Jeffrey Griffiths commented: "We are very pleased with our performance for both the fourth quarter and full year, as our bottom line results came in at the high end of our revised expectations."

Another manufacturer looking forward with optimism is Timberland.

It has revealed it is to showcase its new wood flooring range at the Ideal Homes Show at Earl's Court, which runs from March 20th to April 5th.
