Hardwood flooring 'good for respiratory sufferers'

Hardwood flooring has been recommended as an ideal way to beat off dust mites.

Producer of such surfaces Oak Floors Online said those with respiratory problems tend to suffer heavily when dust mites are about, with 85 per cent of asthmatics being vulnerable to the creatures.

The firm stated that a hardwood floor works better in this case than carpets, as the former does not provide any safe haven for the arachnids.

"Installing a hardwood floor is an excellent solution as it can be cleaned more easily, and has less potential for trapping dust and its associated mites," the company stated.

Hardwood flooring can also increase the worth of a home, it was claimed recently.

Home improvement service Ratedpeople.com noted that the material is good at insulating because of the way it traps warm pockets of air.

It noted this is in addition to it being resistant to mites and bugs.
