Hardwood flooring plant bounces back after fire
A hardwood flooring plant in Canada is poised to bounce back and resume production after a fire at the site.

Estate Hardwood Flooring's plant in Renfrew, Ontario saw the blaze begin when a spark ignited sawdust at the milling area, leading to a fire in the vicinity and the adjacent ventilation system, the Renfrew Mercury reports.

However, the damage was limited thanks to the swift response of workers at the location, said Renfrew fire Lieutenant Tim Hill.

He stated: "The guys who work there did a great job. They put out a fair amount of the fire."

Despite the fire, company supervisor Gerald Chassie, said he thought the plant would be back at work inside 24 hours.

While one hardwood flooring firm responded quickly to an emergency, another has responded well to the challenge of making its products healthy for children.

Shaw Hardwood Flooring in Georgia has received 'Greenguard Children & Schools SM Certified' status from the Greenguard Environmental Institute for having a low chemical impact on air quality, the Dalton Daily Citizen reported this week.
