Hardwood floors a feature of revamped hotel

A hotel in the US that has undergone a major makeover features hardwood flooring among its elements.

The refurbishment of the Renaissance New York Hotel 57 has just been completed with the new floors at a cost of $40 million (£24 million), Hospitality Design Magazine reports.

It includes 200 guestrooms and two sky loft rooms on the top floor with hardwood flooring, in addition to wraparound terraces.

Another flooring feature of the hotel is the presence of an apple blossom inlay in the floor of the lobby, a pattern that is reproduced in other public places throughout the building.

These elements come with a heart made of blown glass in the lobby, as well as a glass-enclosed spiral staircase leading to a lounge and restaurant.

As well as being present in opulent surroundings, hardwood flooring has also been tipped as an affordable option.

Earlier this week, real estate advisor Mike Heayn told the Santa Monica Daily Press that hardwood flooring can be a cheap way of refurbishing an apartment.
