Imported floors cause U.S. problems

A flooring scandal which has caused a dispute between America and China, has now become a clash between several American flooring companies.

The current debate about adding further taxes on to imported Chinese floors is splitting the opinions of firms which often supply the imported floor and companies which are owned by American manufacturers.

Several businesses in America are pushing for the extra charges to be added to Chinese engineered floors in light of the U.S. Trade Commission announcing it is likely that the incredibly cheap prices of the imports has had a negative impact on the American flooring market.

The issue has, unexpectedly boiled down to be a dispute between U.S. companies, rather than the initial international clash between America and China.

The cheap engineered floors which are imported from China can be sold at a substantially lower price than engineered flooring which is produced in the U.S. so the knock on effect is causing the American market to suffer.

Decisions about extra charges on the imported engineered flooring will be made throughout the next few months but either way it is clear that part of the U.S. flooring sector will suffer.
