Improved fire protection for solid wood

Fire safety demands for wood flooring are starting to tighten and industry insiders predict that the standards are only going to get higher in the pursuit of safety.

Stricter guidelines in commercial sectors means that wood flooring is coming under inspection when considering how safe a building is in terms of fire hazards.

In response to the new interest in the flooring manufacturers are producing new options to improve fire safety, without having to sacrifice wood flooring.

Flame retardant lacquers are being introduced to the market allowing that increased protection for any hardwood floor.

The wooden floors which are most likely to be affected would be those which are installed in schools, care homes, nurseries and other areas where people would be more vulnerable in case of a fire.

Fire protection lacquers can be bought online, however it is unlikely that the average wooden floor in a domestic environment would require the extra protection.
