Kitchen flooring 'essential to look of room'

The way a kitchen appears depends to a large extent on the flooring that is used, it has been stated.

Commenting on the issue of kitchen flooring, David Field of Money Morning said: "New floors or floor-coverings … can give a kitchen a whole new look."

He said that for those looking to raise the value of a home, work on the kitchen is important as no room in the home is used as much.

Improving the appearance of a bathroom is also a positive step householders can take, he commented, a comment that may prompt some to consider adding a new floor in that room as well.

While many will seek to change kitchen floorings or make other alterations in order to make their residence more saleable, others may make such innovations so they can bring the decor in line with their own tastes, it has been suggested.

Editor at House Beautiful magazine Julia Goodwin said recently that this is now the most common motivation for householders, as many have had to shelve plans to move due to the state of the property market.
