Laminate flooring a feature of maternity unit

A new maternity unit in Canada has laminate flooring as one of its features, it has been reported.

The St Joseph's Health Centre at Sudbury Regional Hospital is set to open on March 28th and will provide extra facilities for expectant mothers, the Sudbury Star reports.

Among its features are six birthing rooms, each of which will have laminate flooring.

Other elements revealed when the media were allowed a preview include a neonatal intensive care unit and special rooms for visiting family members to rest and relax.

It will also provide extra security, with babies being tagged.

Speaking about the facility, medical director of the Family and Child Programme at the hospital Sean Murray said: "When you walk around our new space, you will see a bright, cheery atmosphere."

Another featured building with laminate flooring is a home for sale reported last month by the Aberdeen Press and Journal.

The paper noted that it has laminate flooring in its lounge.
