Laminate flooring a feature of new apartments

In a feature on the 30-storey Liberty building in Toronto, Canada, the National Post newspaper noted: "There's laminate flooring in the principal rooms, as well as granite kitchen countertops, Energy Star appliances and marble bathroom countertops."
The building offers one and two-bedroom properties with dens of between 640 and 1,260 sq ft of floorspace, which are aimed at young professionals.
With the building currently under construction, the date the homes will be ready is 2014, with other facilities including a party room, outdoor facilities for barbecues and patios, a games room and two guest suites.

Reportlinker published research by Catalina that concluded demand for such floors will be driven by a recent rise in home moves in the country.
It also said that threats to laminate's market share from other flooring materials will be partly resisted by the creation of innovative new products.
