Laminate flooring 'durable and easy to clean'

Laminate flooring is a good option for those looking for minimal fuss when it comes to cleaning and care, as the surface is easy to maintain.

This is according to interior design consultant Leanne Brownoff, who noted in the Edmonton Journal that the fibreboard-based substance is a "more economical" option than stone or wood.

Laminate flooring can be chosen to mimic the appearance of either of these two substances and can be installed over most types of pre-existing flooring except for carpet.

However, Ms Brownoff suggested those who are considering laminate flooring may wish to install an acoustic underlay such as cork, which can minimise the so-called "echo effect" of this type of flooring.

She pointed out that this material is an effective buffer as it can help to absorb sound and reduce the noise associated with the "tongue-and-groove" glue-less installation system for laminate flooring.

The material was recently highlighted by Northjersey.com as an alternative to wood, as it provides a similar appearance for less money.
