A laminate flooring firm in the US has expressed an interest in a new scheme by president Barack Obama aimed at doubling the amount of goods firms in the country export in the next five years.
The administration's commerce secretary Gary Locke has attended a meeting involving shipping firm UBS aimed at establishing partnerships between it and the government that will aim to help small and medium-sized firms export more, CBS reports.
One of the firms involved in discussion was laminate flooring maker Faus Group, whose director Jeff Ferguson said he was "cautiously optimistic" about the scheme.
Under the plan, smaller companies that only export to one country will be given help to identify new opportunities to sell their goods overseas.
Earlier this month, a report by BizAcumen said that the "cost advantages" enjoyed by laminate flooring were helping to ensure that it gains market share from other flooring materials, along with its other qualities.
