Laminate flooring tip for kitchen makeover

Those thinking of giving their kitchen a swift makeover that can be accomplished in a single weekend have been advised to consider installing laminate flooring.

Such a move has been advised by the Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, which noted that as "floating" floors, laminates can be swiftly and easily installed on top of the existing floor.

This means that they can be fitted by the householder without difficulty, whereas wooden floors would require some professional aid.

It was one of a number of tips offered by the publication, with others including improving lighting, painting cabinets, changing sinks, taps and hardware, adding a backsplash and transforming the room's colour scheme.

Residences that already have laminate flooring in their kitchens before anyone moves in include the new condos at the Metro Place development in North York, California.

These will be ready for buyers to move into from spring 2012, the National Post reported last month.
