Laminate flooring updated at bookstore
20th November 2009
Taking advantage of the traditional lull in trading over the end of the autumn, the university brought in a specialist contractor to fit the laminate flooring at a cost of $35,000 (£21,000), the Montclarion reports.
According to the university's Auxiliary Services Department, given the number of students who pass through the bookshop each day, the flooring needs replacing every ten years and, as with on previous occasions, workers have done their best to keep any disruption to a minimum.
And, while work on fitting a new carpet and carrying out smaller upgrades is still ongoing, the flooring is already generating positive feedback.
"The place is getting nice. It is something we needed," Lynn Hume, sales coordinator at the bookstore told the student publication.
Earlier this month, the US-based Wilsonart announced that it has become the country's first laminate flooring manufacturer to achieve a certificate for its responsible sourcing of materials.
