Laminate 'gaining ground'

A new report on laminate flooring has said the material is gaining share in the worldwide flooring market and will continue to do so.

The publication by BizAcumen stated that laminate will see its position grow as economic recovery progresses due to "cost advantages" it has over alternative materials.

It added: "Enhanced performance properties such as durability, fade and stain resistance, low maintenance, as well as lower price and varied styles, are also expected to help drive demand."

The report also stated that technological developments have made the attainment of the look of other materials such as wood, tiles and ceramic possible at low cost.

Another recent report on laminate flooring said that whites and greys are currently the most popular shades for the material.

The Association of European producers of Laminate Floorings also said that oak is the leading style, while other popular wood imitations likely to hold their own in 2010 include ash and maple.
