A major flooring project is set to begin this week, as work on the new pier at Weston-super-Mare in Somerset continues.
The floors will start to be installed along with the roof at the new venue, the Weston Mercury reports.
Among the features of the flooring will be mezzanines and also areas of decking, one of which will be private and be used to stage functions.
This will support a facility that is to include a restaurant, a cafe, exhibition space, function rooms, a promenade and various attractions.
According to the paper, work is still on schedule despite the recent bad weather, as such an eventuality was factored into the planning.
The project comes after the old pier was destroyed in a fire in July last year, burning down the old pavilion and leaving a mass of twisted metal wreckage.
What remained of the structure was subsequently demolished and a competition was held to design a replacement.
