Mixed news for carpet industry
With high street stores having a very difficult time of late it can be difficult to see many glimmers of hope in the economic downturn.
Carpetright is certainly one retailer which is struggling to get through the recession and the most recent news from the flooring giant was that a number of their stores will be closing down.
The company has issued a statement to say that they do not anticipate the market making any drastic improvements in the near future.
This news will come as no surprise to many retailers and the statistics from the year so far have looked decidedly bleak.
However after three profit warnings being issued already this year the business has seen a very slight improvement compared to the past months.
The higher sales were attributed to new promotions which were being run and the introduction of a new range of beds.
In general the store estimated that the carpet market had decreased in value by approximately 15-20% within a twelve month period.
