'More advertising needed' for wool carpets in US

The US carpet market is dominated by nylon products because these are advertised widely, whereas wool carpets are not, it has been noted.

Floor store owners in the country Kaddy Carpenter Ward and sister Jane Rinaca stated that wool carpet advertising has only recently started in earnest, the Otago Times reports.

The pair made their comments to the paper as they visited New Zealand on a trip connected with their quest to popularise the Wools of New Zealand organic wool Just Shorn brand.

Ms Carpenter Ward said: "This Just Shorn brand is huge for us. It is going to make it so much easier to tell people about wool and where it comes from."

Last month, another New Zealand wool carpet-aking firm unveiled a new product.

Bentley Prince Street revealed its Cathedral Square brand, which is made from 100 per cent premium wool.

Company president Anthony Minite said the product combines key elements of the firm's philosophy, listing these as "style, quality and sustainability".
