Nepalese carpet firm in Florida deal

A Nepalese carpet maker has signed a deal to increase its delivery services in Florida.

Nepal Rugs and Carpets has signed a deal with Lisa Delivery Services (LDS) that will see the latter firm provide a comprehensive air-freighting service that includes packaging, inspecting, padding, delivering and installing rugs, Furniture Today reports.

The Kathmandu-based manufacturer, which deals mainly through designers, said this would help it provide a better service.

"LDS adds a dimension to our business we had not previously had," president of the company John London said.

The delivery firm also works with retailers and manufacturers in the delivery of furniture and other items.

Last month, the Nepalese government conferred its 2009 Export Excellence Award on carpet exporter Thomas Roetter, the managing director of German firm Kreiger GmbH.

The company managed to export 27,123 sq m of Nepalese carpet to Germany last year, leading to the country's prime minister rewarding Mr Roetter.
