New floor soundproofing system launched

New floor soundproofing system launched

A new system has been designed to allow homeowners and those involved in the building industry to soundproof floors.

The Green Glue Company has developed four separate products, which it states reduce noise by 97 per cent when used together.

One of these - the Green Glue Noiseproofing Joist Tape - is intended to cut out the sounds caused by subfloors and joists rubbing together when flooring is walked on.

The tape acts as a buffer, isolating the sound when applied between the two and improving energy efficiency due to its low thermal conductivity.

Commenting on the announcement, technical innovation manager at the firm Brian Ravnaas said: "The system is designed to help professionals and DIY-ers protect the sanctity of their environment by keeping noise out."

Earlier this week, Dunlop Flooring highlighted the benefits of its Springtred carpet cushion, suggesting that it provides excellent sound and heat insulation and is fully recyclable.
