New hardwood floor for sporting venue
17th December 2009
Cowboys Stadium, home to NFL franchise the Dallas Cowboys, is swapping its ends for hoops and also turning its playing surface from green to blue.
The transformation was carried out by first placing a 25-inch aluminium platform over the football surface and then installing the hardwood on top, piece by piece.
In all, 350 pieces will be put in place as the stadium prepares to host basketball for the first time in the game between the Texas Longhorns and North Carolina this coming Saturday (December 19th).
That the game can be put on in such a fashion may help demonstrate the versatility of hardwood flooring.
Those keen on hardwood in the home rather than on a basketball court should consider having engineered, rather than standard hardwood if the room in which it is being fitted has greater than normal humidity, the founder of interiors experts Angie's List, Angie Hicks, told CBS.com.
