New kitchen flooring 'can add value'

Spending vast amounts of money on new appliances and cabinets can prove to be costly, with expenditure not being recouped when selling, newsleader.com noted.
One homeowner told the news source that he invested in a range of upgrades, but then had difficulty because other homes in the area did not have comparable facilities.
"My neighbours think the house is beautiful, but the buyers aren't willing to pay for it," said Jack Forman.
The site recommended steps such as changing flooring in the kitchen, adding that painting cabinets can also prove beneficial.
Earlier this month, a survey by Halifax indicated that homeowners believe simple improvements such as increasing fuel efficiency add the most cost-effective value to properties.
Such changes were perceived to be worth two-and-a-half times the outlay costs.
