Bamboo flooring is increasing in popularity, it has been suggested.
According to California's KFSN, the environmentally-friendly option is being chosen by more and more people.
Industry expert Adam Levine explained that there are a number of reasons for the trend, which is seeing bamboo take market share away from traditional solid wood flooring.
"Bamboo floors definitely have more of a selection now than they ever have," he was quoted as saying. "They come in all sorts of colors, all different sizes, all different grain patterns."
Mr Levine was commenting following a Consumer Reports study that found bamboo flooring to have performed well in a number of tests compared to other materials, including oak.
Last week, Michaela Renee of Examiner.com suggested that bamboo is a good sustainable flooring option.
She also highlighted cork flooring, noting that the process of taking the bark from the trees can actually be good for the environment.
