Popularity of leather flooring 'is growing'

Leather is becoming an increasingly popular option for those seeking sustainable flooring, it has been observed.

According to News Canada, recycled leather "ages beautifully" and is a particularly durable material.

Householders were advised that it is comfortable to walk on, as well as giving a "feeling of responsibility", as the recycled products would otherwise be likely to go to landfill.

"Leather floors create a dramatic and inspired textured backdrop for any room and complement atmospheres from casual to formal to anywhere in between," the news source stated.

Canadian firm Torlys was highlighted as one that is offering engineered flooring made from the material, with attractive designs that suppress sound and are warm underfoot.

Torlys vice-president of marketing John Kocemba recently told the Calgary Herald that the sustainable flooring option is easy to install and maintain.

He explained that planks and tiles can be replaced in a straightforward manner, as there is no glue or nails involved.
