Recycled carpet won in competition
A woman from Wisconsin has been celebrating after winning a whole house full of new carpet.

Householder Pat Stephens from the town of Madison entered a contest run by Beaulieu of America, which picked a random winner to get 300 sq yards of carpet in the home, the Huntsville Times reports.

Kim Hammonds of the local stockist for Beaulieu told the paper: "This carpet is cutting-edge technology."

Ms Stephens agreed, noting: "It's made from recycled plastic soda bottles and the colour is in the yarn and won't fade or stain."

She also stated that the material is an "odour eater" and is moisture resistant.

The development of such carpet technology may interest those looking to install flooring that is eco-friendly and low-maintenance.

Recycled plastic bottles were used in the creation of a green-coloured carpet used in place of the normal red one at this year's Tokyo Film Festival, in order to emphasis its eco theme.
