Although sustainable flooring is definitely a serious business, one company has found a way to make recycling flooring that bit more fun.

Treehugger.com has highlighted the great work of craftsman Brian Lopez from Virginia who has found an innovative way to recycle wood floors; by making them in to skateboards.

Lopez uses reclaimed solid wood floors to produce skateboard decks for his business, Glide Skateboards, because he is passionate about recycling and other environmental issues.

While there are many schemes which are exploring potential uses for all kinds of flooring once it is no longer needed, using floors to produce skateboards shows that these products can be reused for many different uses.

Lopez's work is also providing much needed publicity for environmental awareness and making people aware of the need to recycle all products, including flooring.

Glide Skateboards are made entirely from recycled material and there is a large variety of choice offered by the company, which reflects the range of options in skateboard designs as well as the huge diversity offered by hardwood floors.

The great natural design from the timber which is seen in the flooring is also clear on many of the skateboards for a really unique style of board.
