Solid wood warning

Anyone who has a wooden floor, or is considering getting one, has been given a stark warning about continuing with the solid wood maintenance as recommended for the floors.

Many homeowners choose their wood flooring for the high quality appearance with beautiful natural detailing and finishes available to choose between.

Solid wood flooring maintenance kits are available from all good flooring suppliers and these help to keep hardwood floors in the great condition they should be in.

However Lisa Breakspear, from Fila UK, writes in CFJ: “Once a floor’s been lived on for a few months, its unique natural characteristics are forgotten, as busy lives take over.”

The sales and technical director noticed that many people use incorrect cleaning methods, which can even result in damage for the wood floors.

Harsh cleaning products are recognised as the main culprits while individuals who use too much water or allow the water to sit on the surface also cause problems.

These treatments can lead to wooden floors shrinking and expanding as well as damage to the appearance of the floor.

It is recommended that anyone choosing solid wood floors looks at the product as the investment it quite clearly is.

How do I clean my wooden floor? Is what many people need to know but it is actually very straightforward when you read the manufacturers guidelines and take advice on the best solid wood maintenance kits available.
