Sustainable qualities of cork flooring praised

The sustainable nature of cork flooring has come in for praise from one of the occupants of a new office for a local chamber of commerce in the US.

Ocala/Marion County Chamber of Commerce in Florida has moved to a new city centre building in Ocala with better technology such as WiFi and more space, Ocala.com reports.

Chairman and chief executive of the body Jaye Baillie told the news provider that the "sustainable flooring materials" - which includes cork flooring - "provide an engaging environment in which to tackle issues as well as work on opportunities for our community".

He stated that the "fresh and organic" environment makes those who enter the building feel welcomed.

The sustainable virtues of cork flooring have been emphasised on numerous occasions.

One recent instance was that of Mind Body & Spirits restaurant in Rochester, on the edge of Detroit.

The Metro Times noted that the flooring material was one of several eco-friendly features, which also included solar panels and a bar top made from reclaimed wood.
