New retail figures have indicated that sales of carpets in the UK are increasing.
The Confederation of British industry (CBI) said its latest Distributive Trades Survey showed that furniture and carpet retailers saw their second successive month of sales growth in November.
Overall, retail sales increased at their fastest rate in two years, which may suggest that an economic recovery is taking root in the sector, which could have a further positive impact on sales of carpets and other flooring materials.
Commenting on this situation and the prospects for the near future, chairman of the CBI Distributive Trades Panel and chief operating officer of Asda Andy Clarke stated: "It's reassuring that the high street now has a second month of sales growth behind it and it looks like December will be even better."
Last month's CBI survey noted that the carpet sector was one of those seeing renewed sales growth after a "difficult year".
