Underlay recommended for heat and sound insulation

Homeowners looking for ways to soundproof rooms in their property have been advised to consider Barrier Plus underlay.

If correctly installed, the product can significantly reduce the sounds created by wood flooring, experts at UK Flooring Direct blog explained.

While wood flooring was seen as cold and noisy in the past, insulation and flooring accessories such as underlay can now combat both these problems.

According to the authors, noise often results from the fact that a void is created, with flooring materials floating above the subfloor.

However, Barrier Plus underlay can fill the space "for sound and heat insulation", they wrote.

Meanwhile, a product has been launched in the US that is aimed at reducing the risk of broken bones and other injuries after a fall.

SorbaSHOCK comes in the form of a tile installed under flooring and absorbs the impact of a body, cushioning it at acute points, while remaining stable at other times.
