An antique engineered flooring design has been added to a range of environmentally-friendly products offered by US firm Pioneer Millworks (PM).
Settler's Plank - among the company's most popular brands - has joined The World's Most Eco-friendly Engineered Flooring line, which already featured a wide variety of woods, including ash, oak, heart pine and chestnut.
The Green Build 2009 exhibition in Phoenix, Arizona was chosen to unveil the new product, which PM has dubbed a "breakthrough" in using engineered flooring and antique wood together.
Jered Slusser, speaking on behalf of the company, commented: "The same character that makes this floor coveted is also what makes it so challenging to use as engineered flooring. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it."
Earth911.com reported recently that PM utilises reclaimed wood for its products, gathering items from deconstructed houses and recycling them to make flooring.
Eco-friendliness and added character are among the benefits of this approach, the news portal suggested.
