Value of flooring 'underestimated' by homeowners

According to Swinton, 61 per cent of 1,200 people questioned were unaware of the costs that would be incurred if disaster struck.
Respondents were found to be neglecting item such as flooring when estimating cover, while expensive wine and exercise equipment were also often left off the list.
The company advised householders to keep receipts and guarantees, as well as to list their contents in order without missing anything out.
And Swinton's Steve Chelton warned that failing to put the appropriate level of cover in place could mean the full value is not recovered in the event of damage.
