Using different sorts of carpets for each type of room in the home has become the latest fashion, it has been noted.
In an article on changing tastes and trends, the Aberdeen Press and Journal observed that a decade ago it was common for people to carpet the whole house, even the bathroom.
This was followed by wooden or laminate flooring being in vogue, but subsequently an approach has emerged in which various different kinds of flooring are used for each part of the house, with "soft and cosy" carpets being used in bedrooms.
It added: "This style change has also been reflected in the world of carpeting," commenting that stripes, woven carpets and rugs are also part of this new trend.
