Variety of hardwood flooring on display

Preservation Durham's Old Durham Home Tour will visit Depression era homes in the Hope Valley of North Carolina this year and one of the buildings preserved by the body, the Herald Sun reports.
It noted that the house has no less than four kinds of hardwood flooring, these being pine, hard pine, red oak and white oak.
The house was bought by John Lanning, a college professor, in 1936 as its previous owners decided to sell up to raise funds as the depression continued to take its toll.
Another older home featuring hardwood flooring is a Dutch colonial-style home in the town of Riverdale in Maryland, Gazette.net reported earlier this month.
It observed: "The first floor of this Riverdale home features a living room with plenty of light and hardwood floors throughout the first level."
