Vinyl floor installed in school
23rd March 2010
The Daily Freeman reported that some 15,500 sq ft of vinyl composition flooring will be laid in the Salzmann building during the school's spring break.
Vinyl will replace carpet in the school's corridors and is thought to be less prone to dust. A total of 30 students were sent home from school during the carpet removal this week, which must be completed before the new flooring can be installed.
The renovation is part of the Excel capital project at the educational facility, which is in its final stages.
Vinyl has a number of advantages as a floor cover. Interior Design magazine highlights that the substance can be an eco-friendly option in addition to being durable.
The publication pointed out that an estimated 200,000 graphics printed on vinyl for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada will get a new lease of life as vinyl flooring thanks to a joint project between Mannington Commercial and technology firm 3M.
