Vinyl flooring a feature of renovated home

A renovated home up for sale in the US features vinyl kitchen flooring.

The residence, located in the village of Middletown in Maryland, uses vinyl flooring for the room alongside elements such as oak cabinets, recessed lighting and an island worktop, Gazette.net reports.

Other rooms in the house have hardwood flooring, such as the hallway and the powder room.

While the owners have opted for carpet in the dining room and living room, vinyl flooring is again the material of choice in the laundry room.

Such use of material may help emphasise where vinyl is the most useful item to have, with other substances being better suited to different parts of a house.

Vinyl flooring's qualities have seen it enjoy popularity in the recession, as shown by the results of one UK firm that makes such products for businesses.

James Halstead, which is based just north of Manchester, recently revealed annual profits of £33 million, compared with £29.9 million in 2008.
