Vinyl flooring a key part of hall revamp

A hall in New Zealand has used vinyl flooring as part of an internal makeover.

The Civic Hall in Wellington, the country's capital city, has now been almost completely refurbished, the Wellington Times reports.

Planning, environmental and community services director at the city council John Clague noted the new flooring elements in the building.

He stated: "The bar now has new beer coolers and a fridge and freezer and vinyl flooring."

"The change rooms and kitchen also have new vinyl flooring and the kitchen also has a new freezer," the official added.

Mr Clague suggested the addition of a new carpet in the hall made it "more attractive" and added he hoped the venue would now see greater use.

The cash for the revamp came from the government's Regional and Local Infrastructure Programme.

Venues to have made use of vinyl flooring recently include the International Convention Centre in Cape Town, which had such a surface installed for the recent football World Cup draw.
