Vinyl flooring firm in merger

Vinyl flooring firm Gerflor has merged branding with healthcare protection solutions provider SPM International, it has been revealed.

The move sees SPM being incorporated into Gerflor, which Caringbusiness.co.uk noted "offers a uniquely comprehensive range which provides for both new build and refurbishment projects".

SPM makes corner protection and handrail items and alongside Gerflor's vinyl floor products enables the company to offer healthcare providers a range of items to meet their needs.

Such brand amalgamation follows the takeover of SPM by Gerflor at a corporate level in 2007.

The article went on to note that Gerflor makes durable, easy to maintain, slip-resistant vinyl floors, with many of these products having anti-fungicidal qualities.

Another example of vinyl flooring providing enhanced safety arose in a church in the US earlier this month.

The First Presbyterian Church of Skaneateles has the material laid in tiles over an old floor that contained asbestos, sealing in the dangerous substance below, auburnpub.com reported.
