Vinyl tiles help improve church floor safety

A church has had vinyl flooring tiles fitted and in doing so has helped make its floor safer, it has been noted.

The First Presbyterian Church of Skaneateles is having the tiles added in a labyrinth pattern, with minster Reverend Dr Craig Lindsey noting that the old floor was not safe to buff because it contained asbestos, auburnpub.com reports.

However, the new tiles seal in the old asbestos and make the building safer, with the prayer labyrinth pattern implemented to reflect old pilgrimage traditions, when such devices were used by those unable to travel in such a way.

"We had been discussing solutions for dealing with the old asbestos floor in the Dobson Hall for many years," Rev Lindsey commented.

Another quality of vinyl flooring that has been noted is its ability to deal with damp.

The Washington Post recently carried the comments of a reader of its interior design section who stated that their cellar had benefitted from a click-system assembly product that was so waterproof it could even be installed underwater.
