Vinyl's time to shine
The stand out flooring choice at DOMOTEX Asia/ChinaFloor this year came as a surprise to many of the shows visitors as luxury vinyl options dominated the exhibit.
Solid wood floors have previously been popular and wood floors in general have seemed to dominate the event in previous years.
Even companies which had previously focused almost entirely on wood floors were involved with several exhibiting brand new vinyl ranges at the event.
When compared to other flooring options vinyl has had a poor reputation in the past, however this has changed in recent years with better technology allowing exciting new designs and even greater durability.
The Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) which was on display in China is considered to be the next step for the product as quality continues to improve.
As vinyl improves as a product the technology surrounding vinyl also continues to advance with new options when it comes to installing vinyl.
Mimicking the advances in wood flooring, vinyl floors were displayed with click systems as well as the traditional installation options.
In an interview with FloorBiz Ray Kwan, general manager of Elegant Living’s international operations, said: “With the technology available today, it has become a good substitute for other types of flooring.”
